I've read this scenario lots of times and I've written it once, but I never get tired of seeing people's take on it: Sam lets Dean go so he can hunt him down again. Gimme ALL the running, terrified, badass, hurt or other things along those lines Dean and implacable, unstoppable, untiring pissed off, or chillingly calm (or other things along those lines) Sam.
