So, LJ now has the option where communities can be flagged, and where we can decide to self-censor. I'm sure the vast majority of us already do this.

So, the community can be left unflagged, it can be flagged as having adult concepts (which blocks out people 14 and under), or it can be flagged as explicit (which blocks out people under 18).

So, the question is, do we want to set the community as explicit, ie nobody under 18 will be able to read the fic.

This is basically a way for LJ to get around the fact that underage people might be viewing what's on journals/communities etc.

I'm not quite sure what people who are underage see if they try and go into an explicit community/journal but I'm sure it's enough to warn them away! Not taking into account of course that people may lie about their ages! Shock, horror.

Anyway, enough of that. As moderators [livejournal.com profile] xphoenixrising and I don't simply think that we should or shouldn't flag the community without some input from members.

So, here's a little poll to let us know what you think.

Since there is NC-17 fic posted on this community, I think that flagging it as explicit could prevent the community from getting in trouble in the future, like when lj was randomly shutting down journals and communities for having inappropriate content.

If you come straight out and flag it as explicit, it would be a good way for the community to cover it's ass. That's just my opinion.
